What disposables are
actually costing you
Foam plugs look cheap at $0.30 a pair. But 10 workers through a full year add up fast. Drag the slider and see where your PPE spend really goes.
Assumes 1 foam pair per shift, 260 working days/year, $0.30/pair. EarGuard: an estimated 4 pairs per worker/year at $2.99/pair. How long a pair lasts depends on use and care. Buying in bulk? Contact us for pricing.
Warehouse floors often run 90 to less than 95 dB(A).
That is the Class 2 band.
Class 4 and 5 plugs are rated for jackhammers and angle grinders, the kind of gear that hits 110dB and above. Put them in a warehouse and workers can't hear the forklift alarm, a shout, or the radio. So they pull them out. That is when the damage happens.
Class 2 is the right protection for the right noise level. Workers can still hear what they need to hear. Nobody's ripping plugs out mid-shift.
Correct protection, not maximum protection
Class 2 is the recommended class for an eight-hour exposure of 90 to less than 95 dB(A), where many warehouse, assembly, and logistics floors sit. Check your site noise assessment. Louder sites need a higher class.
Less common than Class 4 and 5
Class 2 reusable corded plugs are less common in Australia than Class 4 and 5. That's why we stock them.
Still hear what matters
Enough attenuation to protect your hearing. Not so much that you miss a reversing forklift or a shout from across the floor.
Four things that matter
on a real shift.
Reusable: a fraction of the cost per use
One reusable pair stands in for a new foam pair every shift, for as long as it stays in good condition. Wash them with warm soapy water at the end of the shift. Let them dry. Repeat. Inspect before each shift and replace the pair when the tips show cracking, tears or deformation.
Corded: always around your neck, never on the floor
The cord runs between the two plugs and hangs around the neck when not in use. No more fishing through a pocket mid-forklift run. No more finding one plug and not the other. They're there when the noise starts, and back around your neck when you're clear.
TPR triple-flange tips, no foam expansion
Foam plugs work by expanding inside the ear canal, and that pressure is what creates the seal. TPR (thermoplastic rubber) triple-flange tips seal by their shape instead of by expanding. Fit them properly for the rated protection: see the fitting steps in the FAQ below.
Washable: soap, water, dry overnight
Rinse under warm water, scrub lightly with soap, hang to dry. Inspect before each shift and replace the pair when the tips show cracking, tears or deformation. A reusable pair means fewer disposable plugs to buy and throw out.
